From aluminium sheets for general engineering applications to high-end aerospace components, Smiths Advanced is a leading stockist who supports the global engineering economy with high-quality aluminium sheet products.
The performance characteristics of our materials vary depending on the material grade. Our aluminium sheets offer positive features relating to strength, corrosion resistance, ductility, machinability and thermal conductivity. The alloy is lightweight and provides excellent strength to weight ratios compared to denser alloy alternatives such as steel.
Smiths Advanced Metals offers a single source of supply for our products. We stock and supply aluminium sheets and process them too using our in-house guillotining service. There is no need to process materials yourself or outsource to a third party.
The guillotining process works similarly to using a large pair of scissors. Our machines cut (or snip) the sheets with total precision.
High carbon steel blades snip the aluminium sheets from above and below, which results in accurate, clean, straight cuts. Guillotining also produces strips and blanks if required.
We provide guillotining services in-house at our central warehousing facility in Biggleswade.
