Our speciality steel bar stock provides broad coverage for various commercial applications.

Improved Performance

Speciality steel round bars represent a group of steel products that offer improved performance characteristics.

Smiths Advanced Metals stocks a range of speciality steel round bars that find suitability in more niche applications. Our steel bar stock range offers enhancements, including greater tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability, among others.

Different Types

Our stock range includes various types of specialist steel. Maraging steel is known for its high strength and toughness without losing overall ductility. We also stock a variety of aerospace-grade specified steels, including round bars to British Standards. Other types include wear-resistant, carburising and nitriding steel. We offer our engineering materials to you on an ex-stock basis.

Added Value

Our product range is broad and stocked in closer incremental sizes, and we also provide billeting services at our central warehousing facility in Biggleswade. We even offer comprehensive metallurgical support courtesy of our UKAS Accredited Testing Laboratory.

Nitriding Steels

Nitriding results in greater wear resistance and anti-galling properties. Nitriding is a heat-treatment process which results in a case-hardened surface.

Nitrided steel is often referred to as case-hardened steel and is typically performed on low-alloy products. The method uses nitrogen, which is introduced into the surface of the material, increasing the surface hardness of the product.

The result is steel which offers good wear resistance and anti-galling properties.
